GitHub Copilot to deprecate Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 3 Flash

GitHub published a deprecation schedule for two older Gemini models in Copilot, along with replacements so teams can migrate ahead of time.

Key points

• Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 3 Flash will be deprecated across all Copilot experiences (Chat, inline edits, ask/agent modes, code completions) on 31 July 2026.
• Suggested replacements: Gemini 3.1 Pro (for 2.5 Pro) and Gemini 3.5 Flash (for Gemini 3 Flash).
• Copilot Enterprise admins may need to enable the alternative models via model policies in Copilot settings.
• No action is required to remove the older models once they are deprecated.
